Pavilion/Amph-Tech

Dimensions

The Yokouchi Pavilion has a glass and steel roof structure supported by 8 columns, 4 stage left and four stage right. The distance between the columns left/right is 55’11”. The concrete slab that the Pavilion sits on is raised about 2’ higher than the amphitheater lawn where the audience is located. We add staging on top of the concrete pad with dimensions that suit the needs of the performance.

A typical stage would be 40’ wide x 28’ deep x 2’ high, which means the stage is roughly 4’ high from an audience perspective. A stage that is 40’ allows for almost 13’ on each side of the stage to place performance support gear such as a monitor console, lighting equipment, and guitar tech workstation.

The ceiling height is minimum 27’, maximum 50’ in the center peak. I-beams are exposed and convenient for hanging truss motors. Over the center portion of the Pavilion, I-beams are 35’ above the concrete floor.

Keep in mind that the Yokouchi Pavilion is multifunctional and events are typically used in one of two ways: with a stage built on the lawn side of the Pavilion where the performance faces the audience located on the A&B Amphitheater lawn, or the performers can face 180  the other way towards the glass covered courtyard.

Other Info:

  • There are 6 fixed and 6 motorized “grills” made of African mahogany that can be raised or lowered to enclose the sides of the Pavilion. They are deployed by accessing a computer screen located in one of the Pavilion support columns.
  • There is a catwalk for access over the wings of the stage area and rigging points throughout.
  • There is a vault beneath the concrete which houses audio and lighting equipment and breaker panels.
  • There are two 12” tubes run underground from the vault to a position at front-of-house on the lawn. A hatch door that is flush with the lawn can be opened to access power, audio, and lighting cable runs.
  • The underground vault houses a Genie man lift that rises out from one of the two hatch doors and reaches the catwalk above. This is the only means of accessing the catwalk.

House Lighting System

Upon request, Vectorworks file or a PDF of the House Lighting Plot can be provided.

There are approximately 30 LED 6in1 pars and 28 aluminum parcans with 1000 watt, narrow beam lamps hanging in groups along the roof structure to light basic functions.

There is an extensive inventory of professional lighting equipment to support any and all types of events within this space including truss, motors, moving lights, strobes, blinders, ACLs, LED wired pars and LED battery/wireless par fixtures.

Please let the Technical Director know what your requirements are.

There are (2) control access panels in the Pavilion support columns at floor level, one access panel stage right and one stage left. Each panel has a DMX input for the lighting console to connect to the dimmers as well as extra available circuits, 110V and 208V power outlets, and sub-control panel access to the house lights.

Lighting Control

A GrandMA 2 light console is available for control.  An ETC Ion Console with 60 faders and dual touchscreens may be available if preferred. This is currently the lighting controller for the Castle Theater located nearby.

Dimmers

There are (2) ETC Sensor racks located in the underground vault beneath the Yokouchi Pavilion with a total of 160 dimmers. About a dozen of them are dedicated to Houselights (floodlights attached to the palm trees surrounding the lawn).

The others are circuited to stage pin outlet boxes in the Pavilion roof structure and some are located in the control access panels mentioned above.

Follow Spots

Follow spots can be rented locally and placed on temporary staging or scaffolding at the front-of-house mix position.

Audio System

For concert acts facing out toward the A&B Amphitheater, we hang our Meyer Line Array speaker system which consists of 6 Milo speaker boxes per side which will give ample audience coverage depending on the seating charts. Seating is typically built on a show-by-show basis.

Subwoofers can be up to 6 Meyer HP700’s per side.

The system is augmented with other Meyer powered speakers as needed that can be used for front fill and/or side fill. They include CQ1s, UPA1Ps, UPA2Ps and UPJ1Ps.

The system is controlled using a Galileo 616 Callisto 6 in-16 output signal processor.

For a FOH console we use a Yamaha CL5 digital mixing desk, built-in Meter Bridge, with two 32-channel Rio Stage Boxes and iPad app.

A 2nd Yamaha CL5 is network-connected and serves as a monitor desk.

For monitor wedges, there are 12 JBL VTX-M20 powered by Crown I-Tech 4x3500HD amplifiers.

As mentioned above, the flexibility of the Yokouchi Pavilion allows the performance to face 180° the other way into the Courtyard area for smaller events. In this configuration, the Meyer line arrays can be reduced in number of speakers and hung on either side of the stage to cover the entire Courtyard all the way back to the food and beverage counters.

Assistance can be provided to assist in finding the right gear including backline. While the MACC has limited guitar and bass amplifiers, local vendors are available to supply the gear requested.

Video

The MACC has a 3.9mm LED wall (up to 120 panels) which can be assembled and hung from the Pavilion beams to run content or use for IMAG.  The venue's camera gear consists of two Blackmagic Design 4K URSA broadcast cameras, three Sony PTZ cameras and four Blackmagic Micro Studio cameras with various lenses. Our switcher is a Blackmagic Design ATEM 2 M/E Advanced Panel

In addition, there is an RP screen that is 32' W x 18' H that can be projected onto with the MACC's Christie HD12K Roadster

Sometimes side screens are added on either side of the Pavilion on the lawn to add to audience visibility. The two side screens are 18'6" W x 10'6" H projected onto with two Eiki LC-HDT700 (7K) projectors.

Power
  • There are two Cam-Lok disconnect panels located on the Pavilion support columns, one stage right and one stage left. These are 3-phase 200A and are split from the power source so that the 200A can be accessed from either one side or the other. These are not separate feeds. They are generally used for audio and stage power and motor control.
  • There are two additional Cam-Lok disconnect panels located on another pair of the Pavilion support columns, one stage right and one stage left. These are 3-phase 400A and are split from the power source so that the 400A can be accessed from either one side or the other. These are not separate feeds. They are generally used for lighting and video.
  • The Center has several mobile power distros that can connect to the Cam-Lok disconnect panels to provide both 110v and 208v power for motors, lighting, projectors, stage power, and other equipment.
  • There are two lighting access panels located in the columns that also have 110v and 208v power available. There is an additional access panel located within the Courtyard area and another on the Morgado Hall lanai above the bar area.
