Women Poets of Oceania Showcase

Thursday, Apr 23 2020, 7:30 PM

McCoy Studio Theater

This multimedia performance by world-renowned spoken word poets, Jocelyn Kapumealani Ng and Terisa Siagatonu, is presented in anticipation of Ng's forthcoming Control + Release + Restraint at the Hawai’i State Art Museum in Honolulu.
Navigating themes of repatriation, the writers explore the questions of  “who has control of your story,” “who has the power to release it,” and “where do we find restraint?”
This program is inspired by the Smithsonian's presentation of She Who Dies to Live at the Ae Kai Culture Lab in 2017 in Honolulu.
There will be a post-performance talk-story/Q&A session.
Co-presented by the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center.
